For Decoration Purpose

  • 2 egg whites (large);
  • 3 cups of confectioner’s sugar;
  • 80 grams of bittersweet melted chocolate;
  • 2 teaspoons of lemon juice.

Preparation Method

  • Firstly, make home made puff pastry dough and have it chilled. Moreover, you can even use frozen puff pastries as brought from the store.
  • Moreover, prepare the pastry cream and you can even fold in the whipped cream and refrigerate the pastry layer until it is the assembling time.

Pastry Layers

  • Firstly, heat the oven to 400 degree Fahrenheit. Moreover, take a surface lightly floured and roll out the puff pastry dough into a rectangle.
  • With the help of a sharp knife, you can cut the pastry dough into 3 pieces of equal size. Now, transfer the prepared dough into a lined baking pan and take a fork to pierce the puff pastry dough.
  • Now take a parchment sheet and use it to cover the dough. Also, place pie weights on top of the dough to weigh it down as it bakes.
  • You can even bake the dough in batches for 25 minutes or until the dough is golden brown in color. Once the dough is baked, transfer these pastry layers to the rack to cool them down.

  • Firstly, place everything on the table which is prepared, such as the puff pastry layers, ingredients required for frosting as well as decoration, and the pastry cream.
  • Now, distribute half of the available pastry cream on top of each puff pastry. Place the layer of dough on the pastry cream.
  • Spread the remaining pastry cream on the top of the dough.

  • Take a pastry bag and pour in the melted chocolate in it. Also, you can make royal icing by beating together lemon juice as well as egg whites until you get a foamy icing. You can also add the confectioner’s sugar in it slowly.
  • Pour this frosting on the top of each Napoleon pastry and make sure to spread it evenly over the top of each pastry.
  • You can even drizzle the chocolate over the spread frosting.
